Hi, my name is Sonialee Zuk and I live in New Hampshire, just 60 miles from the Canadian Border. And yes, we do live on the side of a small mountain.
Long cold winters add up to plenty of time and motivation to make lots of quilts and warm clothing.
When I started quilting. I worked hard at picking the right fabric, colors and patterns. Then I was usually stumped when it came time to actually quilt my creations. Limited by my sewing machine's ability and size, I generally "stiched in the ditch" or made straight lines. I, also only made small quilts because cramming the large ones into my machine just didn't work very well.
Then my wonderful and talented cousin Sarah (She lives in the Amish country in Ohio) introduced me to long arm quilting. What a difference it made in the finished product! Even plain patterns such as Split Rail came alive with the right quilting design. (see sample in the Quilt Gallery)
